In this commercial from 2015, the Google Translate team tests the app in 27 languages. You can see why this app, along with several others, has become one of my go-to tools during my travels.
Read on for more of my top picks whilst on the go!
Google Translate
As seen above Google Translate has the amazing capability of offline and real-time translation. All you have to do is download the language you need, and aim the camera at the text for instant translation.
Roomer
Roomer provides great discounts on hotel rooms from people who have had to cancel their trips, and save 30 to 80 percent. Also, if you’ve prepaid for a nonrefundable room, you can sell your reservation on the app.
AroundMe
This has been one of my favorite apps for many years. AroundMe uses GPS signal to track where you are, as well as important places nearest to you such as banks, bars, gas stations, hospitals, hotels, movie theaters, restaurants, supermarkets and more.
First Aid
Though I have this on my phone for the worst case scenario, it’s still comforting to have. The First Aid app provides a great reference for how to react in any emergency situation.
HappyCow
I have so many friends that are vegan and have various dietary restrictions. Needless to say, this unique app has come in handy. HappyCow lists all vegan and vegetarian restaurants in nearly 10,500 cities worldwide, from New York City to London.
