Animal welfare advocate, Colleen Paige, created National Mutt Day (also known as National Mixed Breed Dog Day), in 2005.
National Mutt Day is all about embracing, saving and celebrating mixed breed dogs.
This special day is celebrated twice each year to raise awareness of the plight of mixed breed dogs in shelters around the nation, as nearly 80% of dogs in shelters are mixed breeds.
In honor of today’s holiday, I’m sharing a gallery that showcases the amazing characteristics that the mix of breeds creates in each individual furry friend. Enjoy!
Tell Me: Have you ever adopted a mutt?
Barbara! Thank You for making us aware of this worthwhile and Fun holiday. My four doggies and I celebrated with a carrot and a bone….
Your 4 dogs are LUCKY dogs indeed to have YOU care for them, Jim!
