I treasure my years in a small southern town. Friends would drop in daily to chat, have coffee and a slice of one of my mom’s delicious homemade cakes.

This Holiday Chocolate Spice Cake is one of my favorites made around holiday time. It’s an unusual cake made extra moist with applesauce, chocked full of dates and nuts, and seasoned with fall’s favorite spices: cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves.

I like it frosted with chocolate, but this bundt cake is equally good with a cream cheese or caramel frosting. Try one for your Thanksgiving or Christmas celebration.
