No matter your lifestyle or body type, well-fitting shirts are high priority pieces in everyone’s wardrobe. No one does this important fashion essential better than my friend, designer Ann Mashburn.
I was admiring a good-looking, tailored navy and white gingham swimsuit cover-up my daughter was wearing at the beach and of course, she quickly replied, “it’s by Ann Mashburn.” Of course, it is!
Ann’s quintessential shirts and blouses can take you anywhere from the beach, to a meeting, to a cocktail party. That shirt is one that my daughter will wear forever, not just as a cover for her swimsuit, but with Ann’s perfectly designed pants or pencil skirts. Her chic blouse and shirts are always stylish, but never trendy. You will enjoy the beautiful colors, styles, and fabrics as well as the many ways you will wear them and get compliments. You also will be pleased at the prices for such wonderful, wearable, classic clothes.
Ann Mashburn’s fashion philosophy is: “You don’t need a lot of choices, you just need the right choices.”
That is exactly what you will find in all of her and husband Sid’s five shops across the country (located in Atlanta, Houston, Washington DC, Dallas and Los Angeles), as well as their e-commerce shops at annmasburn.com and sidmashburn.com.
In their stores, you can listen to records, drink a coke, play ping pong and also find fantastic clothes you will love and wear forever….the perfect cashmere sweater, the best fitting suit, favorite jeans, the tennis shoes you grew up with, handmade sandals and much more.
They met in New York in the 80’s. Sid was a head designer with iconic companies like J. Crew, Ralph Lauren and Land’s End, while Ann was an editor for major magazines like Vogue and Glamour. At just the right time, they stepped out on their own and began designing, curating, and bringing together the things they love, Ann for women and Sid for men.
Though Ann and Sid are so down-to earth and low key, you may forget they are actually a fashion power couple, have built a fashion empire, showing up in major global magazines, and admired by all. I am fortunate to have gotten to know them, not only as a customer with my children in their unique shops in Atlanta and Dallas, but also with special visits at church, in the Atlanta neighborhood or when one of their five daughters babysits for my three grandchildren.
Ann and Sid Mashburn take care of business, but more importantly, they value and take care of people. Like their clothes, they are cool yet uncomplicated, and favorites forever.
