I like to call my ham and cheese rolls a “surprise” because they are so much better than they sound and not a typical ham and cheese sandwich.

To me, this recipe is a perfect example of synergy happening, meaning I am not crazy about the individual ingredients, but love what happens when they come together. I’m just not someone who makes a ham and cheese sandwich or ever orders one in a restaurant, but I think these are yummy.

This recipe is one that I got from my mom many years ago. I was inspired to share it with you because today is National Cheese Lover’s Day.

These are great to serve at a Super Bowl party or any time for guests. While they have been suggested as an appetizer or snack, I like them for lunch with tomato soup and fruit.
