coconut

Coconut oil has quickly become one of my favorite natural beauty products. Not only is it excellent to use in the kitchen, it’s great for hair, skin and nails. In addition to its wonderful smell, coconut oil is antibacterial and antifungal.

Here are just a few of the ways I’ve added this wonder oil to my beauty regimen:

Cuticle oil: I’ve discovered the perfect way to soften dry, cracked cuticles is coconut oil. It even helps your manicure last longer!

Teeth whitener: By now, I’m sure you’ve heard of “oil pulling” – or the practice of rinsing your mouth with coconut oil. Though it has only gained popularity in recent years, oil pulling is a tried-and-true method to whiten teeth and help keep your breath fresh!

Exfoliator: I absolutely love how radiant my skin looks and feels after I exfoliate. One of my favorite DIY body scrub recipes includes a ½ cup of coconut oil mixed with a ¼ cup of coarse salt or granulated sugar.

Conditioner: Coconut oil works well as either a deep conditioner or a leave-in conditioner because it penetrates our hair amazingly well! I love to apply a small amount to my wet strands in the morning to seal in moisture throughout the day.

Lip balm: With its delicious smell and great moisturizing abilities, its no wonder coconut oil is an ideal remedy for chapped lips. I often substitute it for my lip balm when I need a little hydration.
