All week long you may have noticed a trend – St. Patrick’s Day themed-recipes. As good food is my favorite way to celebrate any special occasion or holiday, I wanted to share many of the dishes I’ve enjoyed throughout the years to commemorate the Irish celebration.
This year, St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Friday for the first time in a long time. That means ample time to celebrate over the weekend! Read on for a few unique ways to get in the St. Patty’s Day spirit.
1) Wear Green: This one may seem like an easy thing to remember, but you’d be surprised how easy it is to forget – until someone pinches you. Whether it’s a green dress, shirt or accessory, be sure to get in the spirit tomorrow!
2) Enjoy Irish Cuisine: If you’re staying home this weekend, I’d encourage you to try one (or two) of my authentic Irish recipes for Glazed Irish Corned Beef and Irish Baked Potato Soup, respectively. If you decide to stay out, check out Yelp or Open Table for an Irish pub or eatery in your area.
3) Learn the History: Though the day is named after St. Patrick, all too often we only celebrate the day with an image of a leprechaun. Click here to learn more about the origin of St. Patrick’s Day via History.com.
4) Take an Irish Dance Class: Consider calling a nearby dance studio and inquiring about Irish dance lessons in the near future. Irish step dancing is not only fun to watch (popularized by Riverdance), but also fun to try!
5) Drink Something Green (Other than Beer): While beer is often the go-to “green” beverage to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, there’s nothing wrong with switching things up this year. Try alternative green drinks with recipes for Cool Cucumber Lime Sangria and a Green Tea Latte.
